Orlando, FL (March 15, 2016) – Orlando Health has named Thibaut van Marcke, senior vice president, Orlando Health and president, Dr. P. Phillips Hospital. Mr. van Marcke most recently served as vice president and chief operating officer for HCA - North Florida Regional Medical Center in Gainesville, a 432-bed tertiary care hospital. In that position, he was responsible for all hospital operations including executive oversight of surgical services, cardiovascular services, and all ancillary and support departments.

Orlando Health Heart & Vascular Institute’s two cardiology groups merge
ORLANDO, Fla. (April 1, 2016) --- Orlando Health Heart & Vascular Institute’s two cardiology groups have joined to form one of the largest cardiovascular practices in Florida. Mid-Florida Cardiology Specialists and Orlando Heart Center will begin the merger process on April 1, 2016. Named the Orlando Health Heart & Vascular Institute, the new combined practice consists of 42 physicians, 280 team members and 13 locations throughout Central Florida. For patients and their families, the new practice means diverse expertise, vast experience, greater efficiency and added conveniences.

Orlando Health Opens First Proton Therapy Center in Central Florida
ORLANDO, FL. (April 4, 2016) –Central Florida has a valuable new tool in the fight against cancer. Orlando Health has officially opened The Marjorie and Leonard Williams Center for Proton Therapy, bringing state-of-the-art cancer treatment options to those battling cancer in Central Florida. The center, the first to offer proton therapy treatments in Central Florida, joins an elite group of proton therapy centers around the world. It is the third pro-ton therapy center to open in the state of Florida and only the 23rd in the nation. Currently there are 67 proton therapy centers worldwide.

Orlando Health announces new president of Health Central Hospital
Orlando, FL (April 4, 2016) – Orlando Health has named Mark Marsh, senior vice president, Orlando Health and president, Health Central Hospital. He will begin his new role May 1, replacing Greg Ohe, who was recently named senior vice president of ambulatory services for Orlando Health. Mr. Marsh most recently served as chief executive officer of Gateway Medical Center in Clarksville, Tennessee, a 270-bed acute care hospital. In that position, he was responsible for operations, building physician relationships, and engaging employees.

Orlando Regional Medical Center receives Atrial Fibrillation with Electrophysiology Services Accreditation
Orlando, Fla. (July 20, 2016) — Orlando Regional Medical Center recently received full Atrial Fibrillation with Electrophysiology Services (EPS) Accreditation status from the Society of Cardiovascular Patient Care (SCPC). ORMC is one of only two hospitals in Florida, and the only one in Central Florida achieving the designation for its Atrial Fibrillation Program.

Orlando Health Treats First Pediatric Patient using Proton Therapy
ORLANDO, FL. (May 26, 2016) – When Zayne Burton’s parents, Lori and Chaz, heard the diagnosis that their 12-year-old son had a medullablastoma, a tumor of the brain and spine, they were in shock. Quickly, however, their focus turned to treating the curable cancer so their son could go on to live a healthy life. Their journey brought them to The Marjorie and Leonard Williams Center for Proton Therapy at UF Health Cancer Center - Orlando Health, which had just opened, becoming the first proton center in Central Florida to treat patients us-ing proton beams, a type of radiation therapy, to shrink tumors. Just weeks after his diagnosis and surgery to remove the tumor, Zayne, a 7th grader from Orlando, began proton therapy treatment at UF Health Cancer Center - Orlando Health, becoming the first pediatric patient treated in Central Florida with this revolutionary treatment option.
