Mikali Shedd, Pharm.D.
Dr. Mikali Shedd is from San Antonio, TX. She received her Doctor of Pharmacy degree from The University of the Incarnate Word – Feik School of Pharmacy. She completed a PGY1 Pharmacy Residency at Orlando Regional Medical Center in Orlando, Florida. During her PGY2 Emergency Medicine Residency at Orlando Health, she will participate in direct patient care, conduct a research project assessing practice variations in prophylactic antibiotic management for type III open fracture among trauma centers in the United States, and conduct a medication use evaluation on insulin pump processes and management. She will be presenting a continuing education seminar on checklists and simulations for emergency situations. Upon completion of residency, she plans to pursue a clinical specialist position in emergency medicine.

Darla Quevedo, Pharm.D.
Dr. Darla Quevedo, from Apopka, FL, received her Doctor of Pharmacy degree from the University of Florida in 2021. She completed a PGY1 Pharmacy Practice Residency at Orlando Regional Medical Center. During her PGY2 Oncology Pharmacy Residency at Orlando Health, she will participate in direct patient care, complete a research project evaluating the tolerability of pembrolizumab/trastuzumab/hyaluronidase given subcutaneously for breast cancer, and conduct a medication use evaluation regarding neutropenic fever management. She will be presenting a continuing education seminar on management of oncologic emergencies. Dr. Quevedo is also serving as Chief Resident for the 2022-2023 Orlando Health Pharmacy Residency Class. Following completion of her residency, Dr. Quevedo plans to pursue clinical specialist position in hematology/oncology.

Alessandra Diioia, Pharm.D.
Dr. Alessandra Diioia is from Tampa, FL. She received her Doctor of Pharmacy degree from the University of Florida and completed a PGY1 Pharmacy Residency at Sarasota Memorial Hospital. During her PGY2 Critical Care residency at Orlando Health, she will participate in direct patient care, conduct a research project evaluating the effect of midazolam weight-based infusion in status epilepticus, and conduct a medication use evaluation on diabetic ketoacidosis. She will be presenting a continuing education seminar comparing tenecteplase versus alteplase in acute ischemic stroke. Upon completion of residency, she plans to obtain board certification in critical care pharmacy and pursue a career as a clinical specialist in critical care.

Rachel Machado, Pharm.D
Dr. Rachel Machado is from Matanzas, Cuba. She received her Doctor of Pharmacy degree from the Lake Erie College of Osteopathic Medicine and completed a PGY1 Pharmacy Residency at Sarasota Memorial Hospital. During her PGY2 Critical Care residency at Orlando Health, she will participate in direct patient care, conduct a research project evaluating the omission of apixaban lead-in period after parenteral anticoagulation in venous thromboembolism treatment, and conduct a medication use evaluation on diabetic ketoacidosis. She will be presenting a continuing education seminar comparing tenecteplase versus alteplase in acute ischemic stroke. Upon completion of residency, she plans to obtain board certification in critical care pharmacy and pursue a career as a clinical specialist in critical care.

Rotations
Residents will rotate with specific attendings in 2 month rotations in accordance with our mentorship model of education. Learning will occur in the setting of the operating room, endoscopy suite, clinic, and rounding in the hospital. Most experiences will be located at our downtown clinic and at Orlando Regional Medical Center. Additional learning opportunities occur at other sites including Orlando Health Dr. P. Philips Hospital, Orlando Health - Health Central Hospital, Orlando Health Arnold Palmer Hospital for Children, Orlando Health Winnie Palmer Children's Hospital for Women & Babies, and the Orlando VA Medical Center. Travel between clinical sites will be minimized. Interaction and collaboration with general surgery residents and medical students will enrich the overall educational experience.
