As chief medical officer of Orlando Health Winnie Palmer Hospital for Women and Babies, Dr. Veronica Schimp ensures that evidence-based practice standards and protocols are in place and provides an operational focus to deliver the highest quality and efficiency of patient care.

Previously, Dr. Schimp served as Orlando Health’s division chief of gynecologic oncology, where she played a pivotal role in training residents, establishing the robotics program at Orlando Health Winnie Palmer, and building and expanding the gynecologic oncology department. Dr. Schimp’s contributions span quality improvement initiatives, program development, patient satisfaction enhancements and service line expansion.

Recognized as the 2023 Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education (ACGME) Outstanding Educator, Dr. Schimp serves as assistant professor and clinician educator for the University of Florida College of Medicine and the University of Central Florida College of Medicine. Dr. Schimp has authored numerous articles, book chapters and case studies, and serves as an editorial reviewer for the Journal of Surgical Oncology and Gynecologic Oncology. A frequent presenter at national conferences, Dr. Schimp is a member of the Society of Gynecologic Oncology, American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists, and the American Society of Clinical Oncology.

Dr. Schimp earned a bachelor’s in biology and chemistry from Lake Superior State University and a doctorate from Michigan State University College of Osteopathic Medicine. She completed an OB-GYN residency at Wayne State University in Michigan and a gynecologic oncology fellowship at The University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center.
