Orlando Health hospitals earn national, regional, high performing recognition from U.S. News & World Report

Multiple service lines recognized as “high performing” regionally and nationally

Orlando Fl – (July 29, 2025) -- Orlando Health hospitals and service lines were recognized in U.S. News & World Report’s most recent hospital rankings as some of the best in the nation. The healthcare system earned Best Hospitals, Best Regional Hospitals and High Performing Hospitals, while multiple service lines were honored as “high performing” at the national and regional levels.

Taking top honors were Orlando Health Orlando Regional Medical Center (ORMC), Orlando Health Dr. P. Phillips Hospital, and Orlando Health Lake Mary Hospital which were nationally ranked No. 50 in Cardiology, Heart & Vascular Surgery and No. 46 in Diabetes and Endocrinology. They also received national high-performing recognition in six service lines:

  1. Gastroenterology & GI Surgery
  2. Pulmonology & Lung surgery
  3. Urology
  4. Geriatrics
  5. Cancer
  6. Orthopedics

In addition, the three hospitals, which were ranked No. 5 in the state, were also recognized as 2025- 2026 “Best Regional Hospital.”

At the regional level, nine Orlando Health hospitals were rated high-performing nearly 20 times in common adult procedures and conditions related to heart and vascular care. Florida facilities Orlando Health ORMC, Orlando Health Dr. P. Phillips, Orlando Health Lake Mary, Orlando Health South Lake Hospital, Orlando Health – Health Central Hospital, Orlando Health Horizon West Hospital and Orlando Health Melbourne Hospital, joined with the system’s Alabama facilities Baptist Health Brookwood Hospital, Baptist Health Princeton Hospital and Baptist Health Shelby Hospital in earning high-performing ratings in some or all of these heart and vascular care areas:

  1. Abdominal aortic aneurysm repair
  2. Aortic valve surgery
  3. Heart arrhythmia
  4. Heart attack
  5. Heart bypass surgery
  6. Heart failure
  7. Pacemaker implantation
  8. TAVR (Transcatheter aortic valve replacement)

Orlando Health’s oncology expertise was also evident in the new rankings. Orlando Health ORMC, Orlando Health Dr. P. Phillips, Orlando Health Lake Mary, Baptist Health Brookwood Hospital and Baptist Health Princeton Hospital earned regional high-performing ratings in the some or all the following cancer-related treatments and conditions:

  1. Colon cancer
  2. GYN cancer
  3. Leukemia
  4. Lymphoma & myeloma
  5. Lung cancer surgery
  6. Prostate cancer surgery

Orthopedic care provided by Orlando Health ORMC, Orlando Health Dr. P. Phillips, Orlando Health Lake Mary and Orlando Health Melbourne Hospital also earned regional high performing ratings in some or all the following treatments and conditions:

  1. Back surgery (spinal fusion)
  2. Hip fracture
  3. Hip replacement
  4. Knee replacement

U.S. News evaluated more than 4,400 hospitals across 15 adult specialties and 22 procedures and conditions; only 13% of evaluated hospitals earned a Best Hospitals designation while only one third of them earned a high-performance award.

To determine the Best Hospitals, U.S. News analyzed each hospital’s performance based on objective measures such as risk-adjusted mortality rates, preventable complications and level of nursing care. The Best Hospitals Specialty rankings methodology and Procedures & Conditions ratings methodology measure patient outcomes using data from over 800 million records of patient care.
