Orlando Health Completes Purchase of Hospitals and Physician Practices in East Central Florida
Festive celebrations welcome new team members to the Orlando Health family
Orlando Fl, (October 24,2024) – Today, Orlando Health assumed ownership of three hospitals and related physician practices located on Florida’s east central coast. The acquisitions were the result of an asset purchase agreement with Steward Health Care; approved by a bankruptcy court. Orlando Health immediately rebranded the hospitals into Orlando Health Melbourne Hospital, Orlando Health Rockledge Hospital and Orlando Health Sebastian River Hospital.
“These acquisitions offer a new day in healthcare for residents of these communities,” said Ohme Entin, SVP, Orlando Health East Region. “History has shown that when Orlando Health expands into new communities, the quality of healthcare increases and the communities benefit. We’re excited to replicate those successes with these communities in Brevard and Indian River counties.”
In recognition of the historic day, simultaneous celebrations were held during different times of the day at all three hospitals so all team members could participate. The new Orlando Health team members were able to meet, interact with and ask questions of current Orlando Health team members, human resource representatives and leadership. Ohme Entin, Steve Burriss, chief operating officer (COO), Bernadette Spong, chief financial officer (CFO), David Strong, president and CEO, and other members of Orlando Health’s leadership team travelled to all three hospitals to personally welcome the new team members to the organization.
Orlando Health branded decorations embellished the main event areas where branded promotional items such as badge pulls, pens, lip balms and drawstring backpacks were available to team members. Morning (6:30 am – 9:30 am), lunchtime (11:30 am – 1:30 pm) and evening (6:30 pm – 9:30 pm) events included time-appropriate food and beverages. More than 30 non-hospital locations received a “Celebration in a Box” that included Orlando Health promotional items and sweet treats. All team members received a commemorative coin to mark the day and a stainless-steel tumbler. Registered in-patients also received a note from Ms. Entin and a special branded wellness kit in recognition of the day’s significance.
Earlier this month on October 1, Orlando Health assumed majority ownership in Brookwood Baptist Health in Birmingham, Alabama in partnership with Baptist Health System. Orlando Health will manage day-to-day operations of the system.
