Orlando Health awarded top certifications for digital health excellence
Orlando, FL (October 26, 2021) – Orlando Health has been awarded two level 8 certifications for digital health by the College of Healthcare Information Management Executives (CHIME). The honors are in the acute care and ambulatory care settings. Orlando Health’s level 8 designations are a result of the organization having deployed technologies and strategies to help analyze data, achieved meaningful clinical and efficiency outcomes and introduced advanced technologies, like telehealth, to expand access to care. With the level 8 certifications, Orlando Health is designated a ‘Most Wired” organization by CHIME.

Orlando Health Celebrates Topping Out of Orlando Health Jewett Orthopedic Institute
Orlando, FL (December 13, 2021) – Today Orlando Health leaders, physicians, team members, and community partners came together to celebrate a major milestone in the construction of the new orthopedic medical complex currently underway on Orlando Health’s booming downtown Orlando campus. The health system staged a traditional Topping Out ceremony to mark the end of the vertical construction phase of its newest specialty hospital, the Orlando Health Jewett Orthopedic Institute. The ceremony culminated with the final placement of an 11 ft. steel beam that had been signed by hundreds of Orlando Health team members and was sandwiched between two giant replicas of a human femur bone[i].

Orlando Health Celebrates Topping Out of New Patient Tower
Clermont, FL (December 8, 2022) – Orlando Health South Lake Hospital, Lake County elected officials and community members celebrated another major milestone in the construction of its new, 95-bed patient tower. The hospital’s 75th anniversary, which was first celebrated earlier this year, was also commemorated during the event with the sealing of a time capsule. Physicians, nurses and team members filled the time capsule with photos, memories about Orlando Heath South Lake and letters to the next generation of healthcare workers.

Male and female differences in concussion blood test: New research shows males have a higher elevation of a biomarker used to detect mild traumatic brain injury compared to females
Orlando, Fla. (September 21, 2023) – New research shows male patients with mild traumatic brain injury (TBI), or concussion have a higher elevation of a biomarker used to detect the condition, compared to female patients with the injury. The study, led by researchers at Orlando Health Orlando Regional Medical Center (ORMC) and recently published in Nature Journal, is among the first and largest studies to compare the two biomarkers between sexes among trauma patients at the time of diagnosis and over time. The findings will help the diagnosis and treatment of patients with concussion.

Orlando Health provides Stop the Bleed training to Orange County Public Schools employees, and donates bleeding control kits
Orlando Health and Orange County Public Schools spent the summer break focused on preparedness lessons. The adult and pediatric trauma teams from Orlando Health provided Bleeding Control Basic (BCon) training to principals, assistant principals and other staff; and donated 1,000 bleeding control kits to the district. The training and donation took place during OCPS Safety Days throughout June and July, with final sessions on Monday, July 29.
