Orlando Pride Players Surprise Pediatric Cancer Patient
ORLANDO, FL. (July 11, 2016) – It was special day at Orlando Health as a pediatric cancer patient got a surprise visit from some of his soccer idols. Orlando Pride soccer players Aubrey Bledsoe (goalkeeper), Christina Burkenroad (forward), Jamia Fields (forward) and Dani Weatherholt (mid-fielder) dropped in at UF Health Cancer Center - Orlando Health to surprise 12-year old Zayne Burton who was completing his final round of proton therapy treatment. Zayne, who was diagnosed with a brain tumor earlier this year, made history when he became the first pediatric patient to undergo proton therapy treatment here in Central Florida at the Center for Proton Therapy at Orlando Health. The players brought Zayne a signed Alex Morgan jersey and then helped him with the ceremonial ringing of the bell to celebrate completing his proton treatment.

(July 20, 2016) — Orlando Regional Medical Center recently received full Atrial Fibrillation with Electrophysiology Services (EPS) Accreditation status from the Society of Cardiovascular Patient Care (SCPC). ORMC is one of only two hospitals in Florida, and the only one in Central Florida achieving the designation for its Atrial Fibrillation Program.

UF Health Cancer Center - Orlando Health Expands Into North Seminole County, Lake Mary Community
LAKE MARY, Fla. (May 17, 2016) — Cancer patients living in north Seminole County and the Lake Mary community now have more options available to them for receiving cancer care. UF Health Can-cer Center - Orlando Health has opened a new collaborative cancer center located along Rinehart Road in Lake Mary. The 12,000 square foot cancer treatment facility will offer medical oncology ser-vices including chemotherapy, infusion services and oncology appointments giving patients local ac-cess to the cancer center specialists, vast resources, leading-edge treatments and ongoing medical trials. Radiation oncology services will begin later this summer.

Orlando Health Treats First Pediatric Patient using Proton Therapy
ORLANDO, FL. (May 26, 2016) – When Zayne Burton’s parents, Lori and Chaz, heard the diagnosis that their 12-year-old son had a medullablastoma, a tumor of the brain and spine, they were in shock. Quickly, however, their focus turned to treating the curable cancer so their son could go on to live a healthy life. Their journey brought them to The Marjorie and Leonard Williams Center for Proton Therapy at UF Health Cancer Center - Orlando Health, which had just opened, becoming the first proton center in Central Florida to treat patients us-ing proton beams, a type of radiation therapy, to shrink tumors. Just weeks after his diagnosis and surgery to remove the tumor, Zayne, a 7th grader from Orlando, began proton therapy treatment at UF Health Cancer Center - Orlando Health, becoming the first pediatric patient treated in Central Florida with this revolutionary treatment option.
