Pediatric Neurosurgery Fellowship

Purpose

To cultivate an unprecedented opportunity for international physicians to conduct new neurosurgical research and work alongside a team of dedicated researchers in advanced laboratories to find the answers for a brighter tomorrow.

Program Overview

The Research Fellowship is a 6-month program that immerses international neurosurgeons into the future of pediatric neurosurgery research. This program is ideal for candidates looking to sharpen their research experience by performing clinical research to advance surgical knowledge, collect and analyze data, explore research literature, and create positive outcomes for pediatric neurosurgery worldwide. Research Fellows will be able to work in one of the most advanced laboratories for pediatric brain and spine research in tumors, epilepsy, fetal repair of meningomyelocele, neuroendoscopy techniques, and more.

This program provides benefits as well as paid time off. Fellows will be mentored by the Chief of Pediatric Neurosurgery and Director of the Leon Pediatric Neuroscience Center of Excellence, Dr. Samer Elbabaa. Under this mentorship, fellows will be able to have ample time for research as well as observe our outpatient clinics, inpatient and outpatient pediatric neurosurgery care management, and most advanced techniques and treatments of complex neurosurgical cases. Alongside three pediatric neurosurgeons and 5 APPs, the fellow will be able to learn from multiple perspectives and contribute to the rich educational environment. There will be no direct patient or clinical care during the time of the program.
