In Good Hands
If there comes a time your child requires pediatric anesthesia to address a cardiac concern, you want them to be cared for by expert physicians. All anesthesiologists at Orlando Health Children's Heart Institute are board-certified, pediatric-trained, and have subspecialty expertise in treating children with heart disease.
If a procedure is required, cardiac patients and their families are seen prior to surgery to discuss an individualized anesthetic plan. During and after this visit, you’ll have the opportunity to ask questions, address concerns, and work with your physician to determine the most appropriate approach.
We encourage parental involvement in the preoperative area while children are preparing for surgery. If your child is anxious, a mild sedative may be given before heading to the operating room. Parents are not permitted in the operating room to maintain a sterile environment and allow our team to focus fully on your child. During surgery, parents can receive updates using the EASE app.
