Orlando Health Travel Medicine extends the mission of Orlando Health: to improve the health and quality of life of the individuals and communities we serve. In our case, we provide vaccinations to protect travelers, students, government employees, medical professionals and any individual or group at risk of exposure, from dangerous diseases that can have life-threatening side effects. Travelers

See us 4-6 weeks before your travel date! Some immunizations need to be given in a series to ensure protection.
Whether you are planning an exotic vacation, a mission trip or have new worldwide business opportunities, it is highly recommended to consult with a travel health professional.

The threat of disease worldwide is often different from what many expect. Epidemics, outbreaks and life threatening diseases do occur; however, the actual risk varies according to destination, duration of stay and nature of travel and the overall health status of the traveler. We provide accurate and reliable information specific to each traveler's personal itinerary, planned activities and medical history.

We have experience in caring for a travelers of all age groups visiting any region of the world and offer an array of services to ensure our travelers remain healthy and safe:

Personal Protection

  • Orlando Health Travel Medicine provides flu and pneumonia shots for people of all ages. Flu shots are specially formulated and updated annually. The pneumonia vaccine is given once after age 65, but may be given earlier for those at high risk due to chronic poor health.
  • Everyone in the United States should have a tetanus/diphtheria vaccine every 7-10 years. We always have this vaccine on hand even when there is a national shortage. We now encourage all adults to receive the new Tdap (Adacel) vaccine once to prevent transmission of whooping cough.
  • All adults are should consider the hepatitis A and B vaccines unless medically contraindicated due to possibility of exposure to these diseases in our own country.
  • Adults 50 years of age and older may be eligible to receive the shingles vaccine, Zostavax,if you are interested, please call to find out if this is a vaccine you should consider.
  • For patients undergoing elective surgery for splenectomy (partial or complete removal of spleen), we offer the pre-surgical vaccines recommended: meningococcal, HIB and pneumococcal.

Staff

The clinical staff stays current with travel health issues by maintaining membership in the International Society of Travel Medicine, a vital link around the globe. Also instrumental in this priority is daily research through the World Health Organization (WHO), the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) in Atlanta and the United States Department of State where we access the most current and reliable information available. Health Service for Travelers is accredited by the Joint Commission.
