Eugene L. Jewett, MD, founder of the Jewett Orthopedic Clinic, was internationally recognized as an orthopedic pioneer and inventor for developing one of the most commonly used devices for treating hip fractures worldwide. The city of Orlando Mayor Bill Frederick proclaimed April 11, 1985, Eugene Jewett MD Day.
