Our High-Risk Maternity Unit provides comfortable, comprehensive care for mothers who are hospitalized during a high-risk pregnancy. The unit's staff is skilled in caring for your physical, emotional and spiritual needs during this important time.

Winnie Palmer Hospital is proud have ANCC Magnet® Recognition for Nursing Excellence. This honor recognizes our nurses for their skill, competence and patient care.

Nursing credentials of staff serving in our High-Risk Maternity Unit include certifications in high-risk obstetrics, basic critical care and fetal monitoring. Certified lactation counselors are also available to educate and support new mothers.

State-of-the-art technology includes fetal monitors at every bedside and the availability of cardiac remote telemetry monitors and fetal ultrasound in every room.

We also strive to make our patients’ stay at Orlando Health Winnie Palmer as pleasant and enjoyable as possible. Amenities in the High-Risk Maternity Unit include:

A murphy bed in every room allowing family members to stay with the patient 24/7 rooms with access to an outdoor balcony
A family room and expansive “Mothers Walk” patio for patients to enjoy the outdoors
Daily group activities such as spa days, baby food making classes, bib decorating, childbirth education, and breastfeeding classes

In addition to the High-Risk Maternity Unit, Orlando Health Winnie Palmer has a Woman's Intensive Care Unit to serve expectant mothers who have complications and need 24 hours of intensive maternal or perinatal care before and/or immediately following delivery.
