Health Information Exchanges

Health Information Exchanges with Other Organizations

Health information exchanges (HIEs) are secure electronic networks that allow healthcare providers and certain other organizations to share your health information as permitted by law. This can help your care team make informed decisions, coordinate your care, and avoid repeated tests or unnecessary treatment. If you have received care at another facility, please let your healthcare team know. If that facility participates in the same HIEs as Orlando Health, Orlando Health may be able to access and share your health information with those participants for treatment and payment purposes.

For more information and a list of participating organizations, please visit:

How to Opt Out of Care Everywhere or Alabama One Health Record (If applicable)

Care Everywhere and Alabama One Health Record help participating providers securely access your health records across different healthcare organizations. This can make it easier for your providers to review your past notes, test results, and other records when needed for your care. Opting Out of Care Everywhere will opt you out of all HIEs listed above except the Florida HIE.

You may opt out of Care Everywhere and/or Alabama One Health Record by choosing one of the following options:

  1. Mail a written, signed, and dated request to Orlando Health, Chief Privacy Officer, 1414 Kuhl Avenue, MP 29, Orlando, FL 32806.
  2. Email your request with “Opt-Out” in the subject line to PrivacyandInformationSecurity@OrlandoHealth.com.
  3. Call the Compliance Hotline at (888) 464-6747 and state that you want to opt out of a specific HIE.

Please include the following information with your request:

  • First and last name (and middle name, if applicable)
  • Orlando Health Medical Record Number (MRN)
  • Date of birth
  • Address
  • Important: Email may not be secure. If you send health information to Orlando Health by email, there is a risk that the message and any attachments could be read by others while being sent over the Internet.

How to Opt Out of the Florida Health Information Exchange

As permitted by law, your health information may be shared through the Florida Health Information Exchange (Florida HIE) to support faster access to information, better care coordination, and more informed decisions by providers and public health officials. You may opt out and disable access to your health information available through CRISP Shared Services by calling (877)940-6144 or by completing and submitting an opt-out form to the Florida HIE by mail, fax, or through their website at www.flhie.org.
