Steve Burriss

As chief operating officer, Steve Burriss works collaboratively with the executive team, governing board and medical staff to develop and implement strategic plans for the organization. He provides leadership and direction for all programs, services and staff for the hospital facilities, actively driving a culture of clinical excellence, service excellence and patient safety in all areas.

Prior to joining Orlando Health, Steve held progressive leadership positions with UNC Health, a leading academic healthcare system based in Chapel Hill, North Carolina. Most recently, he was chief operating officer and president of UNC Health Network Hospitals.

Steve earned his bachelor’s degree in business and a Master of Business Administration from Marshall University in Huntington, West Virginia. He has been recognized in Becker’s Hospital Review’s “100 Hospital and Health System COOs to Know” and “183 Nonprofit Hospital and Health System CEOs to Know” lists and with the Triangle Business Journal’s “40 Under 40” award. He also was honored with the Leadership Triangle Goodmon Award in recognition of his exemplary work and commitment to the economic growth and vitality of the Triangle region. Taking an active role in his former community, Steve served on several local boards and chaired area events.
