Susan Ono, MSN, BSN, RN, PCCN, CPHQ

Assistant Vice President, Clinical and Operational Excellence

Susan Ono is assistant vice president of clinical and operational excellence, leading the organization’s patient care services outcomes related to quality and safety, customer service, team member experience and policy standardization. With 20 years of progressive experience spanning bedside care to system-level leadership, Susan has led progressive care unit, rapid response team and supply chain system workgroups to develop tools and workflows to improve workforce satisfaction and patient safety.

Susan joined Orlando Health in 2005 and served 10 years leading the trauma center at Orlando Health Orlando Regional Medical Center. Under her leadership, the program achieved multiple successful verifications and improved trauma quality outcomes. Susan also expanded the trauma quality team, implemented national trauma standards, and participated in state and local trauma advocacy. She introduced trauma simulations, contributed to various publications and national presentations, and implemented data quality process improvement.

Susan earned a bachelor’s in nursing from the University of Central Florida in Orlando and a master’s in nursing leadership and management from Western Governors University. She holds certification in progressive care nursing (PCCN) from the American Association of Critical-Care Nurses and is a certified professional in healthcare quality (CPHQ).
