As Central Florida's first designated teaching hospital, Orlando Regional Medical Center supports graduate medical education programs in seven residencies, including emergency medicine, internal medicine, OB-GYN, orthopedics, pathology, pediatrics and surgery. U.S.News & World Report has ranked ORMC among “America’s Best Hospitals” for cardiac care (three out of four years). Also, for four consecutive years, ORMC was among 152 hospitals nationally to be named a "Consumer Choice Award" winner by National Research Corporation. Today, ORMC is staffed by more than 4,300 employees (15,000 system-wide) and serves the healthcare needs of 640,000 residents and more than 4,500 visitors annually. The one-time 50-bed hospital has become the flagship of Orlando Health, with 1,105 physicians on staff and 808 licensed beds.
