About Orlando Regional Medical Center
For more than 100 years, Orlando Health Orlando Regional Medical Center (ORMC) has been a trusted healthcare provider in Central Florida, offering the most advanced options available for surgical, medical, rehabilitative, and emergency care. Located in downtown Orlando, the 808-bed hospital is one of the largest tertiary facilities in the region and the foundational hospital of an award-winning organization that attracts healthcare consumers from across the Southeastern United States. A dedicated team of physicians, nurses, clinicians, and medical professionals are committed to delivering expert and compassionate care.
With advanced technology and expertise in numerous specialties, including trauma, heart and vascular, stroke, neuroscience, orthopedics, and surgery — including minimally invasive and robotic surgery with the da Vinci® Robotic Surgical System — Orlando Health ORMC provides a complete continuum of care. As Central Florida’s only Level One Trauma Center, we deliver the highest level of emergency care for the most critically ill and injured. Our Burn Center is designated as a Verified Burn Center by the American Burn Association, one of only a few in Florida, providing high-level care for burn patients from time of injury through rehabilitation. The hospital also holds certifications as an Advanced Comprehensive Stroke Center and in Hip Joint Replacement, Knee Joint Replacement and Spine Surgery programs from The Joint Commission, the nation’s oldest and largest accrediting body in healthcare.
Orlando Health ORMC works in close collaboration with the system-wide cancer, heart and vascular, digestive health, neuroscience, and orthopedic institutes whose center of operations are located on the downtown Orlando campus, as well as the specialty Orlando Health Arnold Palmer Hospital for Children and Orlando Health Winnie Palmer Hospital for Women & Babies. Many outpatient diagnostic and treatment procedures also are available at various on-campus facilities, including the adjacent Orlando Health Ambulatory Care Center.
ORMC is proud to be home to Central Florida's only Level One Trauma Center, which sees more than 85,000 patients per year including 3,400 major trauma cases. ORMC’s life-saving surgical and medical care is available, 24 hours a day, seven days a week. The Orlando Health ORMC Trauma Center has been recognized with the following awards and accreditations:
- Silver-level Beacon Awards for Excellence from the American Association of Critical-Care Nurses (AACN). This three-year award (2019-2022) award recognizes unit caregivers who successfully improve patient outcomes and align practices with AACN’s six Healthy Work Environment Standards.
- Orlando Health has more Beacon Awards for Excellence in bedside care than any other healthcare system in Florida. With 13 active awards, Orlando Health Orlando Regional Medical Center (ORMC) has the most Beacon Award units of any hospital in Florida.
ORMC is also home to the area’s only air ambulance service. The Air Care Team, founded in 1985, is comprised of three medical helicopters that service a 90-mile radius that includes 10 counties in Central Florida. Since its inception, the Air Care Team has flown over 19,000 patients and 1.2 million accident-free miles on their rescue and transport missions
One of the state's six major teaching hospitals, ORMC offers seven residency programs accredited by the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education: Emergency Medicine, Internal Medicine, OB-GYN, Orthopedic Surgery, Pathology, Pediatrics and Surgical Education.
