Amputations
South Seminole Hospital
Amputation is an acquired condition that results in the loss of a limb, usually from injury, disease, or surgery. South Seminole Hospital performs above and below the knee amputations on a scheduled or emergency basis. Our physicians are highly trained in this procedure and will only remove as much of the leg as medically necessary. Following surgery, the patient may be fitted with a prosthesis (artificial limb) to maximize quality of life for the patient.
An amputation affects not only the patient, but also the family. We provide comprehensive patient-centered care with programs and rehabilitation programs geared towards the emotional and physical effects.
