Bio
Dr. Bruce Levy is a board-certified orthopedic and sports medicine surgeon with the Orlando Health Jewett Orthopedic Institute. He also serves as the academic chief of sports medicine and director of the Sports Medicine Surgical Fellowship program. His specialties include:
- Complex knee and hip injuries
- Knee dislocation and multi-ligament knee reconstruction
- Primary/revision hip arthroscopy
- ACL revision reconstruction
- Meniscus transplantation
Dr. Levy has more than 20 years of experience and believes he can connect with his patients because by the age of 20 he had undergone 17 orthopedic operations, from numerous injuries and fractures.
Dr. Levy’s Training
Dr. Levy earned his medical degree from the University of Montreal. He completed a residency in orthopedic surgery at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota, and a fellowship in orthopedic sports medicine at the Minneapolis Sports Medicine Center.
About Dr. Levy
Dr. Levy comes to Orlando Health from the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota, where he enjoyed serving as a professor of orthopedics and as a consultant to the Division of Sports Medicine Surgery. He also was the program director for the Mayo Clinic Orthopedic Sports Medicine Fellowship and the principal investigator for several multi-center trials funded by the National Institutes of Health and the Department of Defense.
He is board-certified by the American Board of Orthopaedic Surgery in orthopedic surgery and orthopedic sports medicine. His professional memberships include the American Academy of Orthopedic Surgeons, American Orthopaedic Society for Sports Medicine, Arthroscopy Association of North America and the International Society of Arthroscopy, Knee Surgery and Orthopedic Sports Medicine.
Dr. Levy has chaired numerous symposia and instructional course lectures on complex knee and hip injuries. He is a consultant for the NBA and NHL Players Associations and a team physician for the U.S. Snowboard Team.
Dr. Levy is a reviewer and editorial board member for numerous medical journals, and he has published more than 300 papers in the scientific literature. He lectures extensively nationally and internationally and has been named one of the nation’s top doctors multiple times by Castle Connolly.
Born and raised in Montreal, Dr. Levy is fluent in English and French.
