Program Information
Orlando Health Arnold Palmer Hospital for Children offers an ACGME-accredited Pediatric Critical Care Medicine Fellowship program. Dedicated to providing leading-edge critical care medicine, the hospital has a highly specialized Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU) as well as a Cardiovascular Intensive Care Unit (CVICU).

Curriculum
Patients with all types of pulmonary hypertension (WHO groups 1-5) are actively evaluated and treated in the Pulmonary hypertension clinic within the Orlando Health Heart and Vascular Institute. All faculty physicians are board-certified pulmonologists with a special interest and expertise in pulmonary vascular disease and hemodynamic evaluation. Modern diagnostic modalities, including cardiac MRI and cardiopulmonary exercise testing, are available. Treatment modalities include oral drugs as well as inhaled, subcutaneous and intravenous medications. Clinics offer mechanical and surgical rescue therapies (e.g., ECMO, right ventricular support devices) The program will soon be in the evaluation and accreditation phase to become a Pulmonary Hypertension Association Accredited Center of Comprehensive Care.

Justin Baba, MD
My name is Justin Baba, and I was born and raised in Orlando, Florida. After earning a bachelor’s degree in microbiology and cell science from the University of Florida (Go Gators!) in Gainesville, I attended medical school at St. George’s University in Grenada in the Caribbean. I completed my pediatric residency at the Beverly Knight Olson Children’s Hospital in Macon, Georgia.

Dr. Nabar earned her medical degree from The University of Texas Medical Branch in Galveston, TX She completed her residency at Orlando Health Arnold Palmer Hospital for Children. She chose the fellowship program for several reasons. “I love that our Pediatric GI team is diverse, nurtures a variety of interests and fosters an awesome learning environment.”

Sharef Al-Mulaabed, MD
Sharef earned his medical degree from Oman Medical College (affiliated with West Virginia University) with high honors. He worked in pediatrics for 8 years in Oman and Ireland before beginning his residency at Brookdale University Hospital in New York. Sharef has a strong commitment to patient safety, quality improvement, and high value care and is passionate about evidence-based medicine and research.
