Surgical Care

At Orlando Regional Medical Center, we care for you throughout your surgery experience, in either an inpatient or outpatient surgical setting.  Our expertly skilled physicians, nurses and other caregivers, equipped with leading-edge technology, work together as a team to deliver the best care in Central Florida. ORMC's surgical team performs a full spectrum of surgical services 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Our surgeons and staff are trained to treat any kind of surgical emergency from a Level One Trauma to an elective surgical procedure.

Over the past few years, ORMC has made a conscious effort to better serve the Central Florida community through earlier adoption of leading-edge technology. Our surgeons are leaders in using surgical innovations that offer greater precision, faster healing and less pain - from minimally invasive surgeries that use tiny incisions, to image-guided technologies that enhance precision for selective procedures.

ORMC is equipped with two Endo Suite Operating rooms that are designed to create the optimal operating environment for the surgeon, staff and patient. These rooms include a ceiling mounted suspension system that provides increased efficiencies and ergonomics with powered equipment, inlight surgical camera, and flat panel monitors with hi resolution display capabilities and centralized controls. It is the most advanced minimally invasive suite available, incorporating voice activation, image management solutions and the ability to add high-level connectivity.

Orlando Regional Medical Center is also proud to offer the da Vinci Robotic Surgical System. Robotic surgery is the latest advancement for minimally invasive incisions, less blood loss, and shorter recovery periods. For patients needing prostate or gynecological treatment, the da Vinci® may be an alternative to traditional surgery. Procedures performed with the da Vinci system eliminate the need for large abdominal incisions. Instead, a smaller incision is made, and a laparoscope (a thin, flexible telescope) is inserted into the abdomen to transmit images to a nearby computer screen where they are greatly enlarged for surgeons to more easily navigate. Without complications, a patient usually can be discharged within 24 hours after surgery and typically can return to regular activities within a week.
