  • Ana Vera Sotomayor, MD

    Dr. Sotomayor was born in Arequipa Peru, where she completed her education from elementary school through medical school.

  • Catherine Love, MD

    Dr. Catherine Love grew up in Winter Park, FL, and spent her teenage years volunteering at Orlando Health Winnie Palmer Hospital and is happy to return to her hometown. Dr. Love obtained her degree at University of Miami in the accelerated BS/MD program, followed by her residency and fellowship in Chicago, Il. During training her research centered on transgenerational health care disparities, which motivated her to take courses towards an epidemiology Masters in Public Health. After completing training, she has spent her career working in Level 3 and Level 4 NICUs as a clinical teaching attending for both residency and fellowship programs, initially at University of Illinois in Chicago and then at Nicklaus Children's Hospital in Miami, as well as several other South Florida area hospitals. Through the years, Dr. Love has had several roles including transport director, developmental clinic director, and has actively served in mock code, bioethics, and feeding protocol committees. She has enjoyed participating in educational programs for medical students, residents, fellows, nurses, and transport teams. Dr. Love's clinical interests include care of the critically ill neonate, centering on the disease processes of PPHN, ELBW, and HIE, as well as nutrition, neurodevelopment, and ethics. 

  • Daphne Pineda, MD

    Dr. Daphne Pineda, often called “Daph” by friends and family, was born in Guatemala but grew up in Central New Jersey.  She attended Rutgers University in New Brunswick, NJ and then transferred to Stetson University in Deland, FL.  Dr. Pineda attended medical school at St. George's University in Grenada, West Indies, followed by completing her residency at St Peter's University Hospital in New Brunswick, NJ, and her fellowship at Medical College of Georgia in Augusta, GA. Her medical interests include neonatal feeding and nutrition and neonatal simulation. Dr. Pineda was recently published in the Journal of Parenteral and Enteral Nutrition (Pineda D, Bingham R, Gates A, Thompson AB, Stansfield BK. Acid/base balance in fortified donor human milk: an experimental study. J Parenter Enteral Nutr. 2023;1‐7. doi:10.1002/jpen.2537).  Outside of work, she enjoys reading a good non-medical book, exploring trails and parks with her 2 yr old lab/boxer mix and traveling.

  • Nicole Paradise Black, MD

    Dr. Paradise Black received her undergraduate degree from The College of William and Mary and her medical degree from Georgetown University School of Medicine. She completed her pediatric residency at Children’s National Medical Center in Washington, D.C., and went on to do a chief residency year at The Barbara Bush’s Children’s Hospital at Maine Medical Center. She spent two years working as a general and neonatal hospitalist at a community hospital for The Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia and then was a member of the University of Florida faculty from 2005-2024. Dr. Paradise Black served as the Associate Chair of Education for the University of Florida Department of Pediatrics from 2017-2024 and was the program director for the residency program from 2010-2022. 

  • Dr. Jessica Lauren Ruoss

    Dr. Lauren Ruoss was born in Cheyenne, Wyoming but considers Florida her home.  She earned her Bachelor of Science degree at Florida State University where she was a Division 1 collegiate diver on the swimming/diving team.  She earned her medical degree at Florida State University, solidifying her love for the FSU Seminoles. Upon graduation, she completed her pediatric residency and was Chief Resident at the Medical University of South Carolina before completing her neonatology fellowship training in Boston at Boston Children’s Hospital in the Harvard University combined program.  

  • Paulina Krause, MD

    Born and raised in central Florida, Dr. Krause is thrilled to be coming back home! Following graduation from University of Central Florida, she completed medical school and residency at Eastern Virginia Medical School and Children's Hospital of the King's Daughters. Dr. Krause then went on to complete her NICU fellowship in Columbus, OH, at Nationwide Children's Hospital. While in Columbus, she met her future husband and they are both so excited to be living in much warmer weather! Dr. Krause is excited to join the group and becoming a part of the team at Orlando Health Winnie Palmer Hospital.

  • Zeromeh Gerber, MD

    Dr. Zeromeh Gerber is originally from Jamaica and moved to Florida after high school to attend Florida Institute of Technology in Melbourne. Her medical career has taken her all over the United States including Howard University in Washington, D.C. and Baylor College of Medicine in Texas.
