Dr. Paradise Black received her undergraduate degree from The College of William and Mary and her medical degree from Georgetown University School of Medicine. She completed her pediatric residency at Children’s National Medical Center in Washington, D.C., and went on to do a chief residency year at The Barbara Bush’s Children’s Hospital at Maine Medical Center. She spent two years working as a general and neonatal hospitalist at a community hospital for The Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia and then was a member of the University of Florida faculty from 2005-2024. Dr. Paradise Black served as the Associate Chair of Education for the University of Florida Department of Pediatrics from 2017-2024 and was the program director for the residency program from 2010-2022. 

Dr. Paradise Black’s professional areas of interest include curriculum and instruction, building community and patient-and family-centered care. She has received local and national recognition for her work, most recently she was the recipient of the 2022 ACGME Parker J. Palmer Courage to Teach Award.  Dr. Paradise Black’s husband, Erik, is a medical educator and she has a son and a daughter, who are the lights of her life! She also has four cats, don’t judge!
