Fellows will be encouraged to pursue independent research under the mentorship of faculty. At the conclusion of the first year, fellows will choose a mentor and begin to construct a research project. Trainees are encouraged to develop protocols and obtain Orlando Health IRB approval. Five months will be allocated towards research endeavors during the three-year training program. All fellows will work towards successful completion of a research project, including data acquisition, interpretation of findings, statistical analysis, and abstract development. It is expected that preliminary work from the research will be submitted in abstract format to either the American Gastroenterological Association, American College of Gastroenterology or American Association for the Study of Liver Diseases endorsed conferences.
We encourage prospective applicants to review ongoing clinical research at our institute.
