Robotic Surgery At Orlando Health Horizon West Hospital
Robotic technology is a minimally invasive surgical technique that gives surgeons at Orlando Health Horizon West Hospital enhanced visualization, precision and range of motion. This allows our surgeons to perform the most complex surgical procedures using only small incisions.
About Robotic Surgery
During robotic surgery, your Orlando Health Horizon West surgeon is stationed at a console in the operating room and uses that console to manipulate surgical instruments inside your body. The surgical instruments are attached to robotic arms that access the surgical area via multiple small incisions (cuts). A small, powerful camera provides magnified, 3D images to provide your surgeon with clear details of the surgical site.
The benefits of robotic surgery for patients are:
- Less downtime after surgery
- Less pain and scarring
- Lower risk of infection
- Shorter hospital stay
We offer robotic surgery in the following surgical specialties:
- General Surgery
- Gynecological Surgery
- Thoracic Surgery
- Hernia repair - inguinal, ventral, hiatal
- Gall bladder removal
- Appendectomy
- Robotic hiatal hernia repairs for the treatment of heartburn (GERD)
