Three Orlando Health hospitals earn Top Hospital designation

Independent hospital watchdog organization recognizes excellence

Orlando, FL (December 15, 2025) – Highlighting nationally recognized achievements in patient safety and quality, three Orlando Health hospitals were named as Top Hospitals by The Leapfrog Group today. This award is one of the most competitive honors hospitals and surgery centers in the United States can receive for their commitment to providing exceptional patient care.

Out of more than 2,400 hospitals that were considered for the award, only 156 Top Hospitals were selected, including:

Top Children’s Hospital:

  • Orlando Health Arnold Palmer Hospital for Children

Top Teaching Hospital:

  • Orlando Health Jewett Orthopedic Institute
  • Orlando Health Winnie Palmer Hospital for Women & Babies

“It’s no surprise that our downtown specialty hospitals are being recognized on a national level,” said Kelly Nierstedt, senior vice president of the Orlando Health Orlando region and president of Orlando Health Orlando Regional Medical Center. “Earning this distinction reflects our teams’ unwavering commitment to safe, high-quality patient care, continual innovation, and a deliberate investment in training the physicians of tomorrow.”

The Leapfrog Top Hospital award is given to teaching, general, rural and children's hospitals that publicly report their performance through the Leapfrog Hospital Survey and meet the high standards defined in the Top Hospitals methodology. This includes infection rates, maternity care and a hospital’s ability to prevent medication errors, among other standards.

The Leapfrog Group also recently awarded Orlando Health South Lake Hospital, Orlando Health Horizon West Hospital, Orlando Health Melbourne Hospital and Orlando Health Bayfront Hospital ‘A’ grades for patient safety in the fall 2025 reporting period.
