About the Electrophysiology and Arrhythmia Center at Orlando Health Heart & Vascular Institute

When your heartbeat is irregular — either too fast, too slow or premature (happens too early) — this is called an arrhythmia. Atrial fibrillation (AFib) is the most common arrhythmia. Arrhythmias can often be challenging to diagnose. If not treated promptly, you could be at risk for heart damage, heart attack or stroke. The team at Orlando Health Electrophysiology and Arrhythmia Center specialize in treating all types of arrhythmias — from the simple to the most complex, difficult to diagnose heart rhythm disorders.

When you choose Orlando Health for your treatment, you get a comprehensive team of physicians that work together to properly diagnose and treat your arrhythmia and any underlying heart conditions. Our electrophysiologists (doctors specializing in the electrical activity of the heart) work together with cardiovascular surgeons, congenital heart specialists, structural heart experts and other cardiac physicians to ensure you’re getting the best possible care

We are committed to bringing the most innovative procedures and technologies to treating your heart disease. We were the first to bring many of the newest procedures to treat arrhythmias and AFib to the people of Central Florida, including:

  • We were the first in the region to use cryo (freezing) energy rather than heat to disable heart tissue that causes irregular heartbeats.
  • We are one of the few in the region to use an advanced 3D cardiac mapping system to pinpoint the source of irregular heartbeats. This technology uses a CT scan imaging study while you wear a vest with 252 electrodes.
  • We are currently researching new and innovative ways to disable unwanted electrical activity in the heart using radiation therapy, so the entire procedure can be done without an incision.

Our goal is to improve your quality of life so you can enjoy the important things in life without having to worry or be slowed by the symptoms of arrhythmias, which can be debilitating.
