Optimized Medication Regimen
Since everyone reacts differently to medication, we offer an optimized medication regimen to help you figure out the best combination of medicines for you. You may need to take medications to treat critical limb ischemia (severe blockage in the arteries of your legs), also called CLI.
How to Prepare for an Optimized Medication Regimen
Before your doctor can create your optimized medication regimen, you should:
- Have blood tests and imaging tests
- Talk to your doctor about your current medications and supplements
- Tell your doctor about any allergies you may have
What to Expect from an Optimized Medication Regimen
At your visit, your doctor will create a personalized treatment plan. Our team will explain the medications, so you understand side effects and any interactions. We will also help you make lifestyle changes, such as eating a plant-based diet or getting more exercise, making sure the medicines work to their best ability.
You may need medicine for:
- Atherosclerosis (buildup of plaque in the blood vessels)
- Diabetes
- High blood pressure
- High cholesterol
- Infections
- Pain
- Peripheral artery disease or PAD (narrowing of the blood vessels)
- Preventing blood clots
For patients with diabetes, high blood pressure or infections, we work with your specialist to determine the most effective treatment plan for you.
What Happens After an Optimized Medication Regimen
We will continue to monitor your condition with regular follow-up appointments to make changes to your medications if necessary. Tell your doctor right away if you are having problems taking your medications.
