Head and Neck Cancer Team

Supporting you along your cancer journey is a diverse team of specialists working alongside your oncologists to focus on your quality of life during and after treatment.

Physician partners include:

  • Dental oncologists specialize in how your teeth and jaws are affected.
  • Neurosurgeons work with our head and neck cancer surgeons to treat cancers that cross boundaries into the brain or spine, including pituitary tumors.
  • Thoracic surgeons work with our head and neck cancer surgeons to treat cancers of the esophagus, trachea (windpipe) and lower neck.
  • Palliative and supportive care physicians specialize in making you more comfortable and better able to enjoy your life during treatment.

Therapy partners include:

  • Speech and language pathologists specialize in speech, voice and swallowing. Much like physical therapists for other parts of the body, SLPs help you restore these functions when affected by cancer.
  • Physical therapists work with you to strengthen affected muscles, such as those in the neck and shoulders. They also work with patients to address other treatment side effects, including tightness and swelling after radiation.
  • Integrative medicine specialists support your mental and emotional well-being with a range of art, music and exercise classes, peer support groups and mental health therapy.

Additionally, our care coordination and nurse navigation team anticipates your needs during your cancer treatment journey and ensures you get the help you need.
