Lung Cancer Screenings

Lung cancer can sometimes go undiagnosed because symptoms are similar to other conditions or don’t appear until the cancer has spread. Studies show lung cancer screenings can increase your chances of beating the disease because they can catch cancer earlier, when you have more effective treatment options.

During a lung cancer screening, a low-dose computed tomography (CT) scan takes many pictures of your lungs as you lie on a table that slides in and out of a large machine. A computer combines these pictures into a detailed picture of your body. If an abnormal scan is detected, our multidisciplinary team of experienced specialists will work with you to determine if you have lung cancer and what treatments may be most effective for you.

Lung Cancer Screening Guidelines

You should be screened for lung cancer if you meet this criteria:

• Are between 55 and 77 years old
• Have a smoking history of more than one pack per day for more than 30 years
• Currently smoke or quit less than 15 years ago
