About Our Dermatology Program

We understand how troubling it can be to deal with cancer or conditions that affect your skin, hair or nails.

Our highly skilled team provides a fast and accurate diagnosis, followed by the latest treatments. We collaborate with Orlando Health Cancer Institute to provide top-of-the-line care under one roof, bringing together the expertise and experience of multiple disciplines – including dermatology, dermatopathology, plastic surgery, medical and surgical oncology, and radiation oncology.

Skin cancer is the most common form of cancer in the United States, with one in five people diagnosed with the disease by the age of 70. But that doesn’t mean every person’s skin cancer should be treated the same way. At the Orlando Health Cancer Institute Melaoma and Skin Cancer Center Dermatology Program, we work with you to build a care plan for your unique needs.

When Should You See a Doctor?

If you notice something amiss with your skin, nails or hair and it doesn’t go away within a couple of weeks, you should bring it to a doctor’s attention. Keep an eye on your body for early signs of skin cancer. The signs could include a new spot on your skin; an existing spot that changes size, shape or color; a spot that is itchy or painful; or a sore that bleeds or develops a crust, without healing.

Conditions We Treat

We care for a wide range of conditions affecting the skin, hair and nails, including:

What is Mohs Therapy?

Mohs therapy is one of the most advanced treatments available for treating skin cancer, including basal cell carcinoma and squamous cell carcinoma, the two most common types of skin cancer.

During the Mohs therapy procedure, a specially trained surgeon removes the tumor, one thin layer at a time. As each layer is removed, your surgeon examines the tissue under a microscope. Additional layers are removed until all signs of cancer are gone.

This delicate step-by-step treatment is designed to cause minimal damage and scarring. Due to its detail, Mohs therapy is ideal for tumors on or near sensitive areas, including the eyes, lips, nose, fingers and genitals.
