TITLE: Gynecologic Oncology

COURSE PREREQUISITES: OB/GYN Core Course

COURSE GOALS:   The course is designed to provide the student with in-depth exposure and experience in gynecologic oncology. The student will attend all lectures with the OB/GYN house staff. In addition, they will be part of the GYN team assigned to care for GYN oncology patients. As part of that team they will be involved in the assessment, management and follow-up for patients admitted to the GYN oncology service. This includes daily work rounds with housestaff and attending faculty. They will also participate in teaching rounds where patients are presented and treatment plans developed. They will participate in the GYN oncology clinics where they will be exposed to colposcopy and outpatient management of the oncology patient.

METHODS OF EVALUATION: Written test (20%); clinical work, (60%), oral presentation (20%)

LENGTH: 4 weeks

ENROLLMENT LIMITS: 1 maximum

Obstetric Ultrasound

TITLE: Obstetric Ultrasound

SPONSORING UNIT: Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology / Winnie Palmer Hospital for Women & Babies, a Division of Orlando Health

COURSE DIRECTOR: Cole Greves, M.D.

COURSE PREREQUISITES: Satisfactory completion of third year obstetrics clerkship

COURSE GOALS: This course will provide:

  1. Exposure, training and experience to normal and abnormal fetal structure and female pelvic anatomy
  2. An understanding of the basic principles of obstetrical transabdominal and transvaginal ultrasound with an emphasis on clinical application.

 COURSE MATERIALS:

  1. Suggested text: None (Manual will be supplied)
  2. The student will participate in the daily activities of the Maternal Fetal Medicine outpatient practice and the Fetal Diagnostic Clinic. The student will attend the Monthly Fetal Board Conference.

METHODS OF EVALUATION: Ward and clinic work (70%), oral presentation (30%)

Obstetrics

TITLE: Obstetrics

COURSE PREREQUISITES:  Satisfactory completion of third year obstetrics clerkship

COURSE GOALS:  This course will provide: 

  1. Exposure, training and experience in managing both the normal obstetrical patient, as well as the high risk pregnant patient in the antepartum, intrapartum, and postpartum periods.
  2. An understanding of the basic principles of obstetrical ultrasound with an emphasis on clinical application.

COURSE MATERIALS:

  1. Suggested text: Obstetrics: Normal & Program Pregnancies 6th Edition GABBE
  2. The student will participate in the High Risk Obstetric Clinic, Triage Area, Labor and Delivery, Week-day Rounds/Morning Report Conferences and Lectures.

METHODS OF EVALUATION: Ward and clinic work (70%), oral presentation (30%)
