Shahid Qamar, MD

Shahid Qamar, MD, FACC, is a cardiologist with Orlando Health Heart Institute. He specializes in advanced heart failure, mechanical circulatory support and heart transplantation. He has extensive training in cardiovascular disease with special interests in cardiac oncology, pulmonary hypertension and infiltrative heart disease, providing patients the latest diagnostic and therapeutic treatments. Dr. Qamar’s board certifications include internal medicine, general cardiology, echocardiography, and advanced heart failure and transplant cardiology.

After earning his medical degree from Dow Medical College, Pakistan, Dr. Qamar completed a residency in internal medicine, a fellowship in general cardiology, and a fellowship in advanced heart failure and transplant at the University of Chicago. During his residency, he served as a chief resident.

Dr. Qamar’s professional memberships include the International Society for Heart and Lung Transplantation, American Society of Echocardiography and Heart Failure Society of America. He also is a fellow of the American College of Cardiology (FACC). Dr. Qamar also actively participates in cutting edge trials to provide his patients with the newest most innovative therapies in the management of advanced heart failure.
