Vijaykumar S. Kasi, MD, PhD

Dr. Kasi is currently the Director of the Cardiac Cath Lab, Director of Cardiovascular Research and Director of the Interventional Cardiology Fellowship training program at Orlando Health.

He completed his MBBS at Kasturba Medical College, Mangalore, India and his PhD in 1998 from the Medical University of South Carolina, Charleston, SC. He subsequently did his Cardiology training at Emory University in Atlanta, GA and Interventional Cardiology at William Beaumont Hospital, Royal Oak, MI.

Dr. Kasi specializes in structural heart interventions to treat Aortic, Mitral and Tricuspid valve disease and performs procedures such as Trans-catheter Aortic Valve Replacement (TAVR) and Mitra-clip. He closes defects in the heart including Atrial Septal Defect (ASD) and Patent Foramen Ovale (PFO). He also performs complex Coronary and Peripheral vascular interventions including lower extremity arterial and carotid revascularization. To achieve the best results, he often employs advanced technologies such as Atherectomy, Shockwave Intravascular Lithotripsy, Left ventricular assist devices and Robotics.

His research interests include regenerative medicine, stem cell therapy and robotics. He is the primary investigator for several clinical trials. He has won several awards, published in peer-reviewed journals and has been invited to speak nationally and internationally.

Dr. Kasi is board certified in Internal Medicine, Cardiovascular Disease, Interventional Cardiology, Nuclear Cardiology and Vascular Medicine.
