Arun was born and raised in Greenville, NC, and completed his undergraduate degree at East Carolina University in Greenville, NC, where he double majored in Biology and Chemistry. He also earned his medical degree from East Carolina University Brody School of Medicine as part of the Early Assurance Program in Medicine. He completed his pediatrics residency at Nassau University Medical Center and is currently in his third year of the fellowship program. He enjoys general pediatric gastroenterology with clinical interests in eosinophilic esophagitis and nutrition. His research interests include exocrine pancreatic insufficiency and small intestinal bacterial overgrowth. He chose the fellowship program for multiple reasons, including “the fellows here have the opportunity to learn a wide variety of procedures that may not be taught across many pediatric gastroenterology fellowships across the country.”

Interesting fact: Dr. Ajmera used to play oboe in a community band.
