Laboratory Health Awareness Program
The Laboratory Health Awareness Program is designed to make you aware of personal health and to encourage preventive care. In addition, the program:
- Provides access to laboratory testing to support your personal health.
- Provides information about the test for your personal health record.
- Encourages you to share your results with your doctor and to discuss your test results as part of a complete medical .
These are just some of the things that can make you more likely to get heart disease. Please ask adoctor for advice and for steps you can take to try to prevent heart disease.

Is there a test that shows my chances for getting heart disease?
The lipid profile, which is a group of tests that can show your chances of getting heart disease.
The tests include:
- Cholesterol
- Triglycerides
- HDL (High Density Lipoprotein) Good
- HDL (High Density Lipoprotein) Bad
- The lipid profile also includes an HDL/cholesterol ratio or a risk score based on test results, age, sex and other things
How do I get tested?
Call the nearest Orlando Health laboratory to schedule an appointment for your lipid profile.
How much does a lipid profile cost?
Your cost for the lipid profile is $35, collected at the time of service.
How do I get ready for this test?
To make sure the results are accurate, do not eat or drink anything for 10-12 hours before your test. This means no mints, candy or gum. You may drink water, but nothing else. If you have any questions, please contact the laboratory.
How will the test be taken?
An Orlando Health Clinical Laboratories professional will take a blood sample, and the test will be performed at one of our laboratories.
How will I get my results?
The results will be mailed to you.
